Assessment of the Knee 4

Inspect for Knee Alignment
-Q-angle- 7-8 degrees
-Obvious malalignment
-Genu valgus (RA)
-Genu varus (OA/ rickets)
-Genu recurvatum (polio/ any quads weakness)
Additional deformities
-Fracture
-Squinting patellae
-Atrophy of muscles
-Loss of normal hollows, indicating knee swelling
Palpate for the following:
-Thickening
-Swelling
-Heat
-Tenderness
-We can actually palpate for muscles and ligament problems.
